Today I was looking around the code which makes up Jowki and found that it was a bit messy which was probably the reason why after updating and going to a new and better host it was still lagging behind. I decided to clean it all up which took about 3 hours and after all of it I found that it still didn’t make much of a difference.

I’d put Jowki on various forums to get reviewed by other users including the Wordpress forum and the users were still criticising the same thing, the loading time. One member and I won’t reveal his username said that it was the ‘recent’ section that was slowing it down as it was making atleast 50 database calls but not just that, he also said it was taking up a large portion of the page and when the user first logs on they won’t be able to see the content which is a bad first impression. I decided to go along with his advice and boom it worked! Notice the difference? I sure hope you do!

Personally I think I did this all in good time as it’s almost been half a year since I launched and it’s been through many phases and tonnes of changes. It’s received loads of loyal readers and tonnes of comments. A good first half year for Jowki.com I think
